SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium reopens on 13 November!

Melbourne – Tuesday 10 November 2020: SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium is reopening to the public on Friday 13 November 2020 following the Victorian Government’s recent announcement regarding indoor entertainment venues.

The iconic aquarium in the heart of the city will once again welcome guests to discover the underwater world with capacity restrictions and extra health and safety measures in place.

“We are incredibly happy to be able to welcome guests back to SEA LIFE Melbourne and give people of all ages the opportunity to experience a fun and educational day out after spending so much time at home. Safety is our number one priority and we have implemented a range of health and safety measures to protect guests and team members. First and foremost, we ask that all visitors pre-book their tickets online in advance due to capacity restrictions,” said Katie Isaac, General Manager at SEA LIFE Melbourne.

The health and safety measures, which were originally implemented in June, include becoming a completely cashless operation, lowering capacity limits with allocated time-slots for guests, the use of additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and clothing for staff, the provision of spatial separation markings, the installation of hygiene screens in various areas and vigorous cleaning regimes. All visitors aged 12 and above will be required to wear face masks. For the full list of health and safety measures please click here.

“Our dedicated team of aquarists and keepers have continued to work onsite at SEA LIFE Melbourne during the closure period to care for the marine creatures and maintain the attraction. Since we last closed our doors, we have welcomed several new species including a huge Tasmanian king crab, a fascinating tasselled anglerfish and six dainty tree frogs! These unique creatures are all on display for guests to see,” continued Katie.

SEA LIFE Melbourne is also home to the popular King and Gentoo penguins, sharks of all shapes and sizes, thousands of tropical fish, a huge saltwater crocodile named Pinjarra and six species of mesmerising jellyfish.

Over the past six months, the aquarium has continued to bring magical marine experiences to people all over Australia and the world through live streams, virtual holiday camps, online school workshops and video messages from aquarists and keepers. The team at SEA LIFE Melbourne has been working hard behind the scenes to prepare for reopening and can’t wait to welcome guests to dive back in!

Advanced Locker, provided Gumbuya World with 600 locker doors and 12 cash / EFT terminals throughout the venue. The Australian built lockers and terminals are far superior to what we have utilised in the past. The customised powder coat colours on the doors, LED lights on the cabinets and the many functions the on screen managers menu offer sets this new solution above all its competitors. The team at Advanced Locker are extremely responsive and great to deal with. The lockers and terminals would be a positive addition to any organisation. Gumbuya World looks forward to a long, successful partnership with Advanced Locker. Ron Weinzierl

Having worked with a number of different locker contractors over my past eight years in tourism, I can easily say Advanced Locker’s has been the most professional, reliable and visually stunning operator I have come across. The design and installation of the lockers was seamless and the ongoing support has been consistent and above anything else we have experienced – even picking up any problems far quicker than our onsite team. I couldn’t be happier that we switch to Advanced Locker and would happily endorse them for any and all organizations. Bart Hamilton
